Integration: The Upside of Coming Down – Debriefing, Disrupting & Dark Journeys By Harvey Schwartz, PhDCo-founder of Polaris Insight Center

I know most medical model ketamine providers focus on a patient’s exposure to the medicine itself and find that exposure to be the powerful element that can help people recover from treatment-resistant depression or other mental health problems. Then the more psycho-spiritual folks think the exposure to the medicine is helpful, but that we need to also focus on the relationship between the patient and the therapist / prescriber, and that time needs to be spent intentionally integrating the insights gained from the time spent in a non-ordinary state of consciousness.

This quote from Dr. Schwartz captures something about helping our clients and ourselves relate well to the NOSC.

“In general, it’s best when people do not chase the altered state experience, dismiss it, disparage it or idealize it. Effective integration serves to forestall the excess of these four potentials.”

I hope you like the article.

Take care, everybody.
