Using ketamine with clients? Experiencing it yourself? Or interested in learning more about it, possibly adding it to your toolbox?

You may have heard stories about how ketamine can enhance someone’s overall sense of well-being, deepen insight and connectedness, and resolve long-standing symptoms that haven’t responded to traditional psychotherapy or medications. It’s not perfect. It’s not a panacea. But it’s pretty promising, I’d say.

KIN...that’s Southern for family. Right? Your people, assigned or chosen. And that’s often what we need the most when we’re taking new journeys, besides snacks and maybe some directions. People to journey with.

It’s both exciting and scary to venture into new territory.

So let’s ride together.

I say let’s build a network of local Atlanta mental health professionals who have the aim of being highly trained, ethical ketamine / KAP providers who can provide support and resources for each other as we venture into this territory.

We can do this better together than alone. We’ll focus on expanding our own expertise and building a safe and supportive community in which we can grow and learn. By elevating our knowledge and leaning on support from each other, we can have better clinical practice, better outcomes, and safer, more effective experiences for our clients.

We’re going to start building this community by creating a lovely little listserv and a monthly Zoom meeting that will be rich in resources and support, then we’ll take it from there. I’ve got lots of ideas, and I bet some of you do, too!

I am a longtime Atlanta therapist and supervisor who specializes in sex therapy and trauma therapy for individuals and couples. Since 2022, I’ve been formally training in KAP and also experiencing it for myself, which has created what I can only call an ongoing sense of awe and gratitude about the beautiful influence it has had in my life. I’ve recently started offering KAP and integration sessions for clients, which led me to feel the need for a strong local community with other ketamine and KAP folks. For lots of good reasons, my current training focus is on facilitating group KAP experiences. Because I care deeply about the well-being of healthcare providers and the healing power of groups, my next offering will be for therapists and prescribers who want to experience KAP in a group setting. It’ll be quite an adventure, I’m sure!
